It’s a new year! Yay!
Time for a fresh start, a new beginning, and resolutions galore!
Every January 1st, I have a laundry list of resolutions for the coming year. After a few weeks, they have usually been forgotten or abandoned on purpose.
Why? Well, I’m pretty sure it’s because my goals are unattainable. My resolutions are just not realistic (at least for my life anyways.) I have crazy ideas like vowing to lose a million pounds in a month, or to never eat sugar again! I’ll aim to read one chapter book a week, or to reorganize the entire house before the end of January.
My previous lists have always be unbelievable!
So this year, I’m not making any resolutions!!
No crazy goals!
No unrealistic ideas that will ultimately lead to my failure!
Instead….This time I am choosing a word of the year. Have you heard about this newer trend?
Choose one word and use that as your guiding light for the year. Pick a word that means something to you personally, that will remind you of your goals and encourage you to actually stick to them!
Words like Try, Breath, and Yes!
I found my inspiration from the book Year of Yes by Shondra Rhimes. Her memoir will inspire you to embrace yourself and accept the challenge in choosing a word of the year!
Word of the Year
My word for 2018 is Believe!
To believe is to “accept something as true or to feel sure of the truth.”
I plan to believe in myself more:)
I believe I can lose weight.
I believe I can read more and use social media less.
I believe I can spend more quality time with my family.
I believe the house will be clean and organized enough.
I believe that the choices I make everyday are the best ones.
I believe that I can do anything I want to as long as I really try.
BRING IT ON 2018! I BELIEVE IN A NEW YEAR!
Did you choose an inspirational word for the year ahead? If so, I’d love to hear about it in the comments below!
Happy New Year!
