I know so many moms who don’t like to cook, or don’t know how. I actually don’t fall in this category because I enjoy cooking for my kids. But I don’t like to cook breakfast! I always feel so tired or rushed in the morning that the thought of going into the kitchen to prepare a meal seems awful to me. There just isn’t enough time (or coffee) for me to actually cook breakfast on a school morning. Sometimes on the weekend I’ll make eggs or pancakes for the kids, but even then I still don’t like to cook breakfast. I would much prefer to relax and enjoy my coffee. But since they say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, I have a lot of mom guilt in the morning when my kids get a cold bowl of cereal for breakfast.
Now don’t get me wrong, my family loves cereal, but we all get sick of eating the same thing over and over again. I am always on the hunt for new and easy kid friendly breakfast ideas to serve in the morning. Anything that is ready in under 10 minutes is a win in my house! Today, I am sharing my list of favorite items to serve the kids for breakfast, NO COOKING REQUIRED!
I strongly believe that as moms we have to pick and choose our battles. Life with kids won’t be perfect, so learning to do what’s best for our own families is important. I love to feed the boys healthy organic choices as much as possible, but have come to except the fact that this just doesn’t happen 100% of the time. And I’m ok with it.
I choose to take some help from the store when serving my kids breakfast. It makes life easier for me. The boys have full tummies before school, I don’t have a mess to clean up, and therefore we can be out the door on time! Because I don’t like to cook breakfast, my list is full of foods found in the freezer section at the store. Obviously, you could cook, bake, or prepare all of these items from scratch if you choose too. And every once in a while I do!
My quick tip for this week was Cook Once & Eat Twice. If I take the time to make pancakes for the kids on the weekend, then I make sure to throw extras in the freezer for the week ahead.
Weather you are like me and prefer to buy breakfast items from the store, or you like everything to be homemade, utilizing the freezer is key to getting food on the table quickly and easily before having to rush out the door. Here is my list of favorite foods you should keep in the freezer to get breakfast on the table in a hurry.
For the Freezer
-French Toast Sticks
All of these items can be easily prepared in the morning and served with a side of fruit. They are all heat and serve options so no cooking is required. I love this because who wants to spend time preparing food in the kitchen when you haven’t even had time to finish your coffee!
-Hard Boiled Eggs
-Yogurt with Granola
-Peanut Butter with Banana
My boys love peanut butter, and I recently did a post on 5 breakfast ideas that can be made in 5 minutes for kids who love peanut butter.
I love all of these easy breakfast ideas and so do my kids. The best part is that I don’t have to cook or follow a recipe for any of them. Even if you love cooking breakfast for your family, every busy mom needs a list of simple ideas they can serve on busy mornings.
Getting out the door on time can be difficult with kids, but serving an easy breakfast will help! I also added 5 morning habits to my daily routine that help make the rest of my busy mom day a little easier.
I hope you have discovered some easy ideas to serve for breakfast tomorrow! No cooking required:)
