Do you like to doodle? Do your kids love to color? Doodling and coloring is fun for the whole family! Drawing and coloring helps to relax the mind and brings out your creative side. I often find myself doodling on my paper whenever my brain is on overload. And my boys like to draw in their books to decompress after school. My family finds the art of doodling a form of stress relief. Coloring helps calm the brain as well, and it is a wonderful, fun family activity. There are so many fun new pens, pencils, and markers for kids to enjoy that doodling and coloring will never be the same.
Fun Writing Tools
Scented pencils and markers are a popular trend with the kids, right now! My kids came home from school one day begging me to buy them some Smencils! I guess all the kids at school like to trade scents:) Ever since I have bought them some Smencils, the boys have been more eager to do their homework! Scented pencils make writing more fun! I also found scented gel pens at Target and put them in my kids Easter baskets. (See picture above.) The boys have loved drawing and doodling with their Sugar Rush Candy Scented Gel Pens. Their rooms even smell better from all the scented writing tools!
My boys also have the Mr Sketch Markers and like to use them while coloring or doodling in their books, and for completing any school projects. I hope their teachers enjoy scented homework!
Do your kids have a doodle book? My family discovered them over the holidays and they have been a great source of fun for the boys. Each page has directions for a different drawing prompt, then kids use their imagination to fill in the blanks. I love comparing how my two boys draw on each page, their doodles are totally different even though they have the same prompt. The book above is for boys, but there is a girl doodle book too!
My kids also like to color, and we often sit down together at the dining room table for some family fun. The boys will tell stories while coloring, and I enjoy having some time to just talk with them. Life is so busy now, taking the time to color with your kids is a great bonding experience.
Isn’t this a cute Dr Suess Color book? I love searching for new color and doodle books to share with the boys. I also enjoy swapping out our writing tools from time to time. There are so many fun pens, pencils, and markers today that you should never get bored with the art of coloring and doodling.
I have created this Free Printable Doodle Sheet for your kids! See what they will draw in the water!
