I’m a new blogger mom. I have only been blogging for three months but I’m ready for a vacation! In those three months, I have created my blog, built a following on social media, and written 50 posts to date. I consider blogging very time consuming. Maybe it gets easier, yet I know it will still take up a lot of my time. But before I am a blogger, I am a mom! I have been a mom for 9 years now. Motherhood has consumed much more of my life than this blog. I love being a mom and in my life it is my number one job!
Taking care of children, a family, and trying to blog is much more than a full time job! And you ladies who have been blogging for years deserve a round of applause. I can only hope to make it in blogging for so long. I have heard that in the world of blogging everything slows down over the Summer. I can understand why, everyone deserves a vacation.
Since creating this blog, I feel that I have been preoccupied when it comes to my every day life. My brain is full of post ideas and my eyes are constantly staring at a computer or phone. But, the kids have been at school, and my husband at work, so I have had the time to devote towards writing my blog. Now that Summer is upon us, I want to refocus my attention on family life. The kids are home and I want to enjoy them. I want to swim in the pool with my boys without feeling guilty because I didn’t get a blog post up that day. I want to cuddle on the sofa with one child on each side watching a movie without feeling guilty that I didn’t pin 30 times yesterday. I want to help the kids build a pillow fort instead of scrolling through pictures on Instagram.
There is a time for work/blogging and there is a time for living and enjoying my kids. I hope to spend my Summer as a “Hands Free Mama.” My daily intent is to spend less time on my phone and the internet. Instead, I plan to spend more time in the present enjoying life in front of me. I recently read the book “Hands Free Mama” by Rachel Macy Stafford, and it has inspired me to make a few changes in my day to day life. Her book is “a Guide to Putting Down the Phone, Burning the To-Do List, and Letting Go of Perfection to Grasp What Really Matters!” I thoroughly enjoyed reading her book, and strongly recommend that you pick up a copy for yourself, especially if you are a busy mom. It has opened my eyes and made me realize how to make my life better and more fun!
Sometimes change has to start small in baby steps, and sometimes it needs to slap us in face.
I’m starting my changes this Summer. Our family vacation is next week and I have every intent to fully enjoy time spent with those I love. I will be putting down my phone for the next week and giving my children the attention they deserve. I won’t be typing any posts, I won’t be pinning any pins, and I won’t be sharing any pics unless the kids are asleep. This blogging mom needs a vacation and so do you! It’s ok to take a break, I promise the internet will still be waiting for us when we get back:)
I hope you have an awesome Summer! And that you enjoy every minute spent with your kids because Before You Know It They Will Be Grown!
