The dictionary says that evolution is the the process of gradual change or development. This is the perfect definition for my mom makeup routine. As a mom, the amount of makeup I wear on a daily basis has slowly evolved from none to full face! I have a love hate relationship with the stuff! Is it only me?
I hate wearing makeup! Sometimes I wish other moms would stop wearing makeup, so I wouldn’t feel the need to wear it all the time. If I’m the only mom in car line without makeup on, then I’ll scare all the kids! Right?
Even in my 20s before my mom life began, I wasn’t a makeup fan. Of course if I was getting dressed up or heading to a formal event, I always put some on, but on a regular basis I avoided the stuff. But as I have become older and wiser, I have grown to wear makeup everyday and even enjoy it. Well, most of the time anyway.
When I was younger the extent of my daily makeup routine involved moisturizer after a shower, clear lip gloss, and white eyeliner! Was white eyeliner a trend when I was in college or was I just doing my own thing? I honestly can’t remember.
Once I started working 12 hour shifts as a nurse at the hospital, the lack of sleep created some serious dark circles under my eyes. This prompted me to begin applying concealer in the morning. But I only liked the crayon concealer. It was easier to use and was so lightweight I hardly noticed I was wearing anything. Easy and simple, that’s what I like!
After Baby Number One arrived, concealer wasn’t enough to keep me looking wide eyed and youthful! At this point, I caved to the makeup gods and added eye shadow and mascara to my daily routine. When I say eyeshadow, I am referring to the color nude. Just need enough coverage to hide those growing dark circles! Yikes! I hate getting old!
I never could understand all those moms, who would wear foundation and powder on a daily basis. That thick caked on makeup has got to feel uncomfortable right? How does the skin breath?
I soon discover why moms wear makeup, after baby number 2!
Now, I’m not sure whether my pale washed out mom face was from a lack of sleep, not enough water, or just aging in general. But at this point in my life, I needed help in the cosmetics department. I tried several foundations, creams, and powders, but to no avail they all felt bad on my skin.
I hated the way my face would feel when I would sweat. I didn’t like seeing orange stuff rub off on my hands or phone. I needed a product that gave me coverage but that didn’t make me feel like I was wearing makeup! Plus I needed it to have sunscreen, because I was desperate to avoid anymore wrinkles!
After lots of trial and error, I found Origins VitaZing. There is something magical about this makeup. Really!
It is formulated to match with your exact skin tone. It comes out of the tube white and once you rub it onto your face, it changes color to match your complexion. Magic! It is so lightweight I feel like I’m applying moisturizer and it also includes SPF 15!
Yay! My search is over and I have found a makeup product I can wear on a daily basis! Please! Please don’t discontinue!
(Moms if you hate makeup Origins VitaZing is for you. This is not a sponsored post. Nobody told me write this. I just really love the stuff! And want all moms to share in my joy!)
Getting older means getting smarter. And as a mom who hates wearing makeup I have realized that it is a necessity to life. That is if you want to hide the aging process. Which I do!!
But finding the right products for your skin, can be time consuming and expensive. Plus, makeup trends are constantly changing just like clothes! Remember blue eyeshadow?
As a busy mom, I don’t always have time to keep up on the newest trends in the makeup world. Nor do I have time to waste in Sephora trying on all the samples. That is why I love receiving my FabFitFun Box a few times a year. It always comes with stylish new finds and is delivered right to my door step. Plus, you will save a ton of money! That Pink Urban Decay Naked3 EyeShadow Palette I used in my picture at the top. It costs $54 at the store. Mine came inside my FabFitFun Box along with lots of other awesome items. The whole box only costs $50. Below is a picture of the box I received this Summer. The eyeshadow came in a previous season’s box.
FabFitFun even turned me onto pink eyeshadows and pink lip gloss! It’s a baby step I know, but a step in the right direction.
I’m embracing my new found mom life full of makeup! No longer a hater over here!
